About
Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash, are the disciples of the Sarod maestro and their father Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and grandson of Haafiz Ali Khan, belonging to the seventh generation in an unbroken chain of the Senia Bangash School.
They both started their musical journey at the age of eight and have been performing with their father Ustad Amjad Ali Khan for over two decades.
Amaan & Ayaan have won the hearts of music lovers both in India & abroad. They made their US Debut in 1991 at the Asia Society in New York.
The brothers made their debut tour to Australia in 2003, where they performed at the WOMAD Festival in Adelaide & New Plymouth, the World Beat Festival in Brisbane, and the Opera House in Sydney.
Amaan performed for the Temenos Academy at St. James Palace in London for HRH Prince of Wales in 1995, 1997, and 2003 whereas Ayaan performed in 1997.
Together they hosted a reality singing show on Zee TV called Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, from 2000 to 2001.
In 2002, they both co-wrote a book titled Abba: God’s Greatest Gift To Us, which was based on their father Ustad Amjad Ali Khan’s life.
Along with their outstanding sarod playing skills, they also sing at various events including the tribute album Remembering Mahatma Gandhi in 2007.
Amaan and Ayaan with their father Ustad Amjad Ali Khan have also performed at the central hall of the Indian parliament on the commemoration of India's 60th year of Independence in 2007.
Amaan and Ayaan made their tier debut at Royal Albert Hall at BBC Proms in 2022.
The Sarod brothers released Reincarnation, an album of world fusion music in 2006, a thematic album Mystic Dunes in 2007, a Sufi music album Rang in 2012, and Headwaters in October 2013.

- Their album Moksha was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Traditional World Music Album.
- They were awarded the ‘Lycra Style Award’ by MTV India in 2006.
- Ayaan was honored by the Mayor of the City of Tulsa, Oklahoma with the keys to the city along with an honorary citizenship and the ‘Bharat Shiromani Award’ for Instrumental music in 2007.
- Amaan starred in a PETA ad strumming his Sarod against a backdrop of birds flying freely across the sky with the words Bring Harmony to Birds Lives – Let Birds Fly Free in 2012.
